At the end of the week, a practice packet will be coming home with your child. It will have some writing activities and cutting practice sheets. This is just practice, it does not need to come back to school. If your child is bored during break, give them a page to work on. At this age, homework is something fun for them and they feel so proud when they complete it.
Have a great break and Happy Holidays!

Here are some great ideas for fine motor play. We use crayons, markers, paint brushes, and other writing tools everyday. We try to always remind the students to "pinch" their writing tool. Sometimes, their fine motor muscles just need to be strengthened. This also helps with cutting skills, too.

We've Come a Long Way!
I can't believe how fast the first months of school have gone by! The students are really settling into the daily routine now. They are becoming more aware of the class rules and expectations, too. It makes me so happy to see the play groups and friendships that are being formed in class. It makes for a fun and at times, rambunctious center time.
I am also so proud of the independence that many of the students are showing in daily tasks as well. A majority of the class can recognize their first name and name the letter it begins with. I am seeing quite a few students "pinching" their writing tools and holding scissors correctly, too. The whole class is working very hard to put their coats on themselves and many are zipping alone.
Keep up the great work you have been doing at home, parents! You are your child's first teacher and by reinforcing what your child is learning in school, you are helping make your child even more successful!

The First Week of Preschool!
We have had a good first week at school! There are fewer and fewer tears at drop off and the children are starting to remember the daily schedule. We have really been focusing on putting toys away when we are done playing with them and making sure toys are in the correct spots. It can be hard to remember, but we are working on it.
